The Revolution Comes to Charleston

Charleston’s role in the American Revolution began long before 1776, placing the city at the very heart of revolutionary ideals and determined patriot resistance. On this immersive walking tour, you’ll stroll the historic streets of Charleston and step back into the conflict that secured America’s independence.

Along the way, you’ll encounter the homes and final resting places of Founding Fathers, hear the stories of bold patriots and powerful Loyalists, and explore how Charleston became a strategic prize for both sides. Learn about the failed British assault that delivered one of the colonies’ earliest victories, the relentless return of British forces, and the eventual fall of Charleston in one of the most devastating defeats of the war—along with everything in between.

By the end of this 90 minute tour, you’ll leave with a deeper, more surprising appreciation for Charleston’s pivotal role in the American Revolution—when the Revolution came to Charleston.

Starting February 7th, this tour operates every Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday at 2:30 PM, starting from 46 Broad Street
